Account and data deletion

Delete your ThisBig account and data

ThisBig is the size comparison app for Android and iPhone, and the browser extension for Chrome, Edge and Firefox. It is made by [Operator name: set THISBIG_OPERATOR_NAME]. This page shows how to delete what we hold about you, what goes, what stays and for how long.

You only have an account if you signed in with Google or Apple to sync your sizes between devices. If you never did, there’s no account to delete: see if you never signed in.

In the app

On a phone that’s still signed in to your account:

  1. Open ThisBig and tap My sizes.

  2. Tap Delete my account, then Delete account.

That permanently deletes your account and everything listed under what we delete, at once. Every phone and browser signed in to it is signed out, and what’s saved on the phone stays there.

Want a copy first? Export everything we hold, on the same screen, sends it to you as text through your phone’s share menu.

To delete only your synced sizes and keep the account, tap Delete the copy on our servers instead. Another phone or browser still signed in sends its copy back when it next syncs, so first tap Unlink beside each one listed there.

In the browser extension

  1. Open the ThisBig panel from your browser’s toolbar and choose My sizes.

  2. Under On your phone too, choose Delete my account, then Delete account.

Delete the copy on our servers, beside it, deletes only your synced sizes and unlinks the browser.

Ask us to delete your account

For when you no longer have the app, or it isn’t signed in any more. All we need is the email address of the Google or Apple account you signed in with.

Chose Hide My Email when you signed in with Apple? Use the address Apple made for ThisBig. It ends in privaterelay.appleid.com and is listed in your Apple Account settings under Sign in with Apple. It’s the only address we were given, so your usual one won’t find the account.

You signed in with

What happens next

  1. You get a reference number straight away.

  2. We email that address from [Privacy email: set THISBIG_PRIVACY_EMAIL] to check the request came from you. Nothing is deleted until you reply, so no one can delete your sizes by typing your address.

  3. Once you reply, we delete the account and everything listed below, and email you when it’s done.

All of that happens within 30 days of your request. If no account uses the address, we tell you that instead. If we haven’t heard back from you within 30 days, we close the request without deleting anything, and you can send a new one at any time.

What we delete

  • Your measurements and sizes: hand, height, feet, body measurements, garments that fit, the spaces and things you’ve measured, and the people you buy shoes for.
  • Your comparison history.
  • Your account: the name and email address Google or Apple gave us, and the sign-in that connects them to it.
  • What the phones and browsers signed in to the account sent us: usage events, the links you asked ThisBig to read, and codes used to link a computer.

Your devices are signed out, not wiped. The app and the extension keep working without an account, and what’s saved on them stays until you delete it there, as described below.

What we keep, and for how long

Deleting in the app or the extension leaves nothing of this kind. When you ask us instead, we keep:

  • Your request: the address you gave, the provider you chose, the reference number and who on our side handled it. We keep it for 90 days after we close the request, so you can ask us about it, and then delete it.
  • A line in our records saying which request was done, and when. It has no address, name or measurement in it, and we keep it as the record that we did what you asked.

If you never signed in

Then there’s no account, and nothing we hold has your name, email address or phone number on it. That also means nothing you could tell us would lead us to it, so we can’t find it to delete it. Here is what exists, and how to remove it.

On your phone or computer

Everything you measure and save is kept there, not with us.

  • In the app, tap My sizes, then Delete my measurements, then Delete. Uninstalling the app removes everything it keeps, recent comparisons included.
  • In the extension, open Settings and, under Your data, choose Delete all, then Delete everything. Clear history is under History. Removing the extension from your browser removes everything it keeps.

On our servers

  • A random number for your install, and the key it uses to talk to us. It isn’t taken from your phone or from any account.
  • From the app: usage events, such as that a comparison was drawn, its category, the brand on the listing, a size verdict and whether it fit, or a short note of a crash.
  • The links you asked ThisBig to read. The extension sends a product link only when Ask the server when unsure is on, and your corrections only when Send my corrections is on.
  • A photo you measure against a sheet of A4 is deleted as soon as it has been measured.

We delete usage events 180 days after they reach us, and the links you asked us to read after 90 days. If you corrected a size we read and we haven’t yet used your correction to improve ThisBig, we keep the correction until we have, without the link and without your install’s number. We don’t yet delete the number for your install and its key on a schedule.
